Hello everyone! My name is Shelby! I am a senior at North Bend Central High School in North Bend, NE. My plans after high school are to go to college and double major in Agricultural Education and Rangeland Management with the intentions of becoming a high school Ag teacher. The three things I love most in life are Jesus, agriculture, and learning! I started this blog so I could share my passions and do what I do best, which is to educate! I live on the family farm where I raise my own herd of registered Angus cattle. I have been an active 4-H and FFA member for almost five years. My background isn’t quite what you’d expect though.
I haven’t always lived on a farm. I actually lived in Omaha till five years ago when my Mom married my Stepdad. Before that, I hadn’t lived on a farm since I was three years old, when my biological parents were still married. My biological parents filed for divorce when I was five years old. While living in Omaha, my middle school class size was larger that my entire current high school in North Bend. Agriculture definitely wasn’t something that was well known since most of the kids didn’t have any experience with a farm. Even though we were living in the city, I always wanted to go back to living on the farm. It was so much fun whenever we went to my Grandpa’s house and spent a weekend on his farm. Moving from Omaha to North Bend was a big change but certainly a good one! When I started school in North Bend, I was able to play sports and become much more involved in school clubs and activities. It was actually my Mom who introduced me to FFA when we were touring the school before we moved. When we passed by the Ag room, she got so excited and told me FFA was the best part of her high school career and she attributes the successful person she is today because of the leadership activities and experiences she gained. Hearing her enthusiasm and passion for FFA inspired me to join as well. I went to the first FFA meeting that year and was immediately hooked! From then on, I was totally captivated by the agricultural industry! Through FFA I have also found that I have a desire to teach others about what I am most passionate about and has been the inspiration for my future profession of being an Ag teacher/FFA Advisor!
